Star Wars Saturday – A New Weekly Feature!
Welcome back to Star Wars Saturday! A weekly post that recaps this week’s Star Wars news and touches on other fun little tidbits from the galaxy far, far away…
Okay, so some of you may be wondering why I’m welcoming people back to a segment that’s never been on the blog before. Well, that’s because I ran a weekly Star Wars column named ‘Star Wars Saturday’ (what a coincidence!) over on myIGN, it ran for several months before eventually coming to a stop when Star Wars The Old Republic drew close to release.
I’ve decided to pull the column out of retirement and make it a regular feature here on Panels And Pixels. Last time it was focused 75% on SWTOR. The new improved column however will spread the love between all aspets of Star Wars.
Star Wars #2 Releases
Issue two of Brian Wood’s fantastic new Star Wars comic released on Wednesday. For those who don’t know, this new series is set almost right after A New Hope and follows the original set of characters. Leia is currently the title’s focus, proving that she did more than stand around waiting to give people medals. There’s absolutely no reason not to give this comic a go.
Patch 1.7 Hits SWTOR
Tuesday brought the release of the newest patch for Star Wars The Old Republic, 1.7 Return of the Gree. As well as the usual batch of balance changes there’s a new quest hub tucked away on Ilum. Hurry though! The event only lasts two weeks. For those of us with too little time to see the whole thing before the Gree blast off there’s no need to worry, the event will be back “soon.”
Star Wars Authors Weigh In On Episode VII
Hollywood.com have a really fun set of mini-interviews where they ask Star Wars authors what they want from Episode VII. Do your desires match up with theirs? Go give the article a read here and find out!
Why Star Wars Legacy Returned
An interview with Dark Horse’s Vice President of Publishing, Randy Stradley popped up on CBR this week. There’s a lot of nuggets of information within but most interesting was some more details on the return of Star Wars Legacy. Turns out a big factor in its return was retailers asking for it to come back. As a bonus, at the end of the interview was a tease that there’s a new announcement coming very soon…
Ewan McGregor Willing To Return As Obi-Wan
Following on from Frank Oz, voice of Yoda, stating his willingness to return, Ewan McGregor spoke to MTV and confirmed he’d also come back if asked. Will we see a spin-off detailing Obi-Wan’s time on Tatooine? Possible, but with John Jackson Miller’s upcoming novel Kenobi set to do the same they might not have any material left to explore! Unless they produce Star Wars’ first direct adaptation of an EU novel?
Harrison Ford Officially Back As Han?
In similar news, reports are circulating that Harrison Ford is close to signing a deal to come back as Han Solo. Whether it’s for Episode VII, a spin-off or the full upcoming trilogy we don’t know. The news comes from Latino Review, who you may recognise as a source of breaking news over the years. So although this isn’t confirmed, it’s certainly possible that it’s true.
Question Of The Week:
With Ewan McGregor’s comments in mind, what other character from the prequels would you like to see get a spin-off? Qui-Gon? Mace Windu? That set of pit droids? Let me know in the comments below or shoot me a tweet @PanelsAndPixels!
Thanks for checking out Star Wars Saturday! I’ll see you next week for another roundup of the news and a new question of the week.
